What are the My Number identity verification documents?

To confirm My Number information, we need to compare your My Number with your personal identity verification documents to make sure the number is correct and that you are the actual holder of that number.

This page explains the identity verification documents that are used to confirm your My Number.

If you have a My Number Card

If you have a My Number Card (Individual Number Card), the number can be confirmed on the back and your identity can be confirmed on the front of the card.

If you do not have a My Number Card

If you do not have a My Number Card, use your Notification Card if it lists the same address and name as shown on your certificate of residence, or a copy of your residence certificate that lists your My Number.

Certificate of residence or Notification Card + one type of photo ID

If you have a photo ID, such as a driver's license, your identity can be verified with a single such item.

Examples of photo IDs

• Driver's license
• Driving record certificate
• Passport
• Physical disability certificate
• Residence card
• Special permanent resident certificate

Certificate of residence or Notification Card + two types of non-photo IDs

If you do not have a photo ID, verify your identity using two types of IDs below.

Examples of non-photo IDs

• Public health insurance card
• Pension handbook/Basic pension number notice
• Student ID card (without a photo)
• Employee ID card (without a photo)
• Qualification certificate (without a photo)
• Receipts for national and local taxes, social insurance premiums, and utility bills
• Seal registration certificate
• A copy of your certificate of residence
• Withholding record

If an employee’s identity was already verified when their SmartHR account was issued, their login ID and password can be used to verify their identify. (Act on the Use of Numbers to Identify a Specific Individual in Administrative Procedures, Chapter IV, Article 2, Item ii)
